On 12 September, GreenRE participated in the Urban Engineering Symposium 2025 (URBENS 2025) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, held in conjunction with ENGINEER & MARVEX 2025. As a sponsor and contributor, we were proud to support meaningful dialogue on shaping the future of urban sustainability.
This year’s theme, “The Future of Urban Engineering: Exploring the Next Frontier in Urban Development,” brought together industry leaders and practitioners to exchange perspectives on building cities that are sustainable, resilient, and people-centric.
Our Executive Director, Ir. Ashwin Thurairajah, presented on “Renewing and Revitalizing Ageing Buildings,” highlighting how sustainable retrofitting and GreenRE certification can:
• Enhance energy and water efficiency
• Reduce carbon impact, and
• Foster healthier living and working environments for communities
We extend our appreciation to the The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and the Urban Engineering Development Special Interest Group (UEDSIG) for convening URBENS 2025—a valuable platform for advancing discussions on ESG integration, sustainable city planning, and the renewal of Malaysia’s ageing building stock.
